LIVE | Formula 1 2019 British Grand Prix - Can anyone beat Mercedes?

2019-07-14 13:00:23 by Louis Shaw

Mercedes have locked out the front row with Valtteri Bottas taking pole position. Home favorite Lewis Hamilton starts behind him in second and will hope to get ahead of his teammate on the start. Charles Leclerc's Ferrari lines up with the Reb Bull of Mex Verstappen on the second row and with both Ferrari's starting on the soft tyre, it will be interesting to see how strategy comes into play.

It seems likely to be a race between the two Mercedes at the top of the grid with the Silver Arrows making the most of their package over the weekend.

The Ferrari's were looking fast and Charles Leclerc wasn't far of pole himself but Sebastian Vettel had a poor session and will start the race in sixth.

Pierre Gasly's Red Bull has had a breakthrough weekend and Max Verstappen will hope that his turbo lag issues have been fixed in time for the race.

The midfield battle looks as tight as ever with the Mclaren's, Renaults and a Toro Rosso all jumbled up looking to battle for the points. It should be a great race.

Here's how the grid looks:
