There are rumours floating around the F1 paddock that the sport's CEO, Chase Carey's contract runs out with Liberty Media at the end of next year, and that his role as boss of F1 could be up for grabs after the 2020 season is out.

Carey has been in charge of the sport since 2017 and has been influential in the proposed intorduction of new regulations, set to be revealed in October and put into place in 2021.

The moustachioed 65-year old has been vocal in aiming to make F1 more of a spectacle for the fans, but there is plenty of chat he could be replaced.

Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff is one man supposedly in the frame, whilst boss of Moto GP, Carmelo Ezpeleta has been tipped for the role by Helmut Marko.

McLaren boss Zak Brown had this to say: "Obviously it's a very important role, whoever does it. Leadership of any sport is particularly important.

"So we've got to get nailed down now what the future looks like, because whenever that transition happens, it will be coming into new rules."
