Verstappen admits he "lost a bit" of time in turn one

Max Verstappen has revealed that he is happy being the best of the rest for the grid on Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix, behind both Mercedes drivers in P3.

Mercedes have been dominant this season and Verstappen has often looked the most challenging for the Silver Arrows, and he showed it today, ending only four tenths behind polesitter Lewis Hamilton.

Red Bull have traditionally gone well in Monaco, and whilst they weren't the quickest car, Verstappen showed that they had the potential to be competitive in the race.

He praised Mercedes after qualifying, telling Sky Sports: "Yeah they were a bit quick. My lap in Q2 was quick but I lost it a bit in turn one in my lap on Q3. It was a reasonable lap.

"I didn't do many qualifying here so I am of course happy to be third."
