Ferrari team principal wants to use the occasion of the 1000th Grand Prix to help boost the team to the next level to help them claim the win at the upcoming Chinese Grand Prix.

Ferrari have had a tough start to the new F1 season with Sebastian Vettel yet to finish on the podium with Charles Leclerc denied a maiden win after his engine short-circuited in Bahrain. With Ferrari already behind in the standings, the 1000th Grand Prix will be just as if not more important for them when it comes around.

“It will be the 1000th race in the history of Formula 1, one more reason to try to excel,” Mattia Binotto said.

The Italian also evaluated the technical aspects of the track saying: “It is a different kind of track both from Melbourne and from Bahrain in this case we have a very long straight stretch and bends that particularly stress the front.

“We want to ascertain the competitiveness of the SF90 also on this type of route and verify that the reliability problems we had in Bahrain are not repeated.

“As always we are eager to do well and to confront ourselves with our opponents.”
