Sergio Perez managed to squeeze his Racing Point into the top 10 for the start of tomorrow's Australian Grand Prix. The Mexican was a surprise candidate as the team seemed to be behind ahead of the session.
Perez insists the car has plenty more potential and can even score a decent points tally this weekend.
“Making the top ten is a great way to start the season. We did a great job throughout qualifying and I was really pleased with my lap in Q2," he said in Racing Point's post-session review.
"Hopefully, we can hold position and make up some ground at the start. As I always say, it doesn’t matter where you start the season, but where you finish. There is great potential in this car and I’m confident we can keep improving as the year goes on.”
