Raikkonen "not sad" to leave Ferrari

A lot of F1 fans are definitely disappointed that Kimi Raikkonen is leaving Ferrari at the end of the season, but the man himself has revealed that he is not all that upset about the decision.

Raikkonen will end his career where it started, with Sauber. He has signed for two years, with Charles Leclerc going in the opposite direction, the exciting youngster is expected to pose more of a challenge to Sebastian Vettel and help Ferrari claim their first Constructors’ or Drivers’ Championship in years.

The Iceman also confirmed that it was not his decision to leave the team he has spent eight years with over two separate spells.

Raikkonen is still Ferrari’s latest drivers’ champion, winning the title in 2007.

Raikkonen said on his move: “I’ve been in the F1 world for a long time and I am not surprised by much. It was not my decision to leave Ferrari but I’m not sad about it.”

He turned 39 this week so it will be interesting to see if Raikkonen has the desire to see out his contract at Sauber, considering he will be 41 by the end of it.
