Hamilton after 75th pole: "Wasn't too bad"

Lewis Hamilton has taken his 75th career pole position in France, but the Brit wasn't overly impressed by his own drive on his competitive debut on Paul Ricard.

The four-time champion came top in Q1, Q2 and Q3, which will no doubt silence his doubters for a while again. People had some things to say about Hamilton's attitude after his P5-finish in Canada, but he looked as hungry as ever again on Saturday in France.

"It wasn't too bad," Hamilton said on his drive when interviewed by Sky Sports F1.

"Qualifying is always tough.

"Q3 wasn't spectacular.

"Q1 and Q2 were good, but Q3 was so-so.

Not too much excitement, but Hamilton did acknowledge that he loved being on Paul Ricard in front of the French fans.

"It's such a beautiful place.

"I'm really excited to come here, and to get on the front is great for all the guys."
