Lewis Hamilton ready to smash a record this weekend

If Lewis Hamilton wins his 5th straight Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, he will become only the second driver to claim more than six wins at a single Grand Prix event.

Michael Schumacher is currently the only driver to achieve more than six race wins in one particular event. He stepped onto the top step of the podium in Canada himself seven times, whilst he made it eight in France.

It would make sense if Hamilton’s favourite track is Montreal. Back in 2007, he won his first ever F1 race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. In 10 races, he’s never finished outside of the podium places when he has completed the full race distance.

Hamilton has six poles to go alongside the six wins, and last time out in Canada he led every single lap of the race.

With a new engine in the back of his Mercedes, he has to be the favourite to win here.

Earlier today, Helmut Marko claimed Ricciardo is waiting for Hamilton to sign a contract before signing one himself. The Brit has claimed he is ready to sign, but they’re just sorting out the fine details.
