Haas forced to remove bargeboard pieces at Monaco

Haas has had to remove pieces of their bargeboards due to fragility and safety concerns. The American outfit has had a poor weekend so far in Monaco and it seems to have gotten worse, with the aero device having to be altered due to possible damage from kerbs.

Haas team principal Gunther Steiner told Autosport that the team had been aware of the issue for some time but had to take action when they saw it could lead to a safety issue for them.

“It’s a problem we have been trying to fix now for six races, and we achieved it in some places but we didn’t achieve it here.

“We had to stop and take some measures to take them off proactively instead of waiting for when they fell off.”

Haas has had a miserable time in Monaco so far this weekend, putting in their worst qualifying performance of the season with Kevin Magnussen 19th and not last by virtue of Max Verstappen's FP3 crash and Romain Grosjean only achieving 15th, a huge shock after the highs of Spain.
