Brundle calls Alonso's criticism of Hamilton 'wholly inaccurate and unfair'

Martin Brundle believes Fernando Alonso went too far in his tirade against Lewis Hamilton after the latter caused a collision with the Alpine driver at the Belgian Grand Prix. In his column for Sky Sports he calls Hamilton "one of the most fairest and cleanest drivers in the history of Formula 1".

Hamilton saw his own race come to an end as a result of the incident. After seeing the footage, he had no choice but to take the blame, but the Mercedes driver was not happy with Alonso's harsh words about his former teammate. Brundle does not agree with the Spaniard's criticism either.

Brundle thinks Alonso's criticism of Hamilton is unjustified

The former F1 driver does acknowledge that Hamilton is to blame for the incident. "Lewis said he couldn't see Fernando in his blind spot but frankly he was bound to be there somewhere, and the Spaniard tried his best to stay to the inside and give space," Brundle began.

However, the Sky analyst believes it is commendable that Hamilton took responsibility for the incident after seeing the footage. On the other hand, he calls Alonso's criticism 'wholly inaccurate and unfair'. "Lewis is one of the fairest and cleanest drivers in the history of F1, he hasn't needed to resort to too many professional fouls given his relentless speed," Brundle continued.

The analyst believes Alonso has made an 'error of judgement' in relation to Hamilton and recalls the Briton's overtaking at last year's Brazilian GP. Brundle warns that "that error of judgement will have caught Lewis' attention".
