Susie Wolff steps down as CEO of Formula E team Venturi ahead of Maserati arrival

Susie Wolff, wife of Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, was CEO of Formula E team Venturi in recent years. Now that the season has ended, Wolff has announced that she will leave her position.

"As the most successful season in Venturi's history comes to an end, so does my personal journey with the team and Formula E. I leave with immense pride in the solid foundations we have built together, as the team begins a new chapter with Maserati", Wolff writes on her Twitter.

Since 2018, Wolff had been active at Venturi as team principal. At the end of last year she was promoted and given the position of CEO. Her final season with the team was successful, as Venturi finished in second place in the constructors' championship, while driver Edoardo Mortara finished in third position in the drivers' championship. Earlier this year it was announced that Maserati will work with Venturi as an engine supplier from next season.

"When I joined Venturi, my goal was to build a team that was not just successful on track, but stood for a greater purpose. A racing family, that celebrated diversity and championed inclusivity. While that journey still continues, I'm so proud of the progress we've made", says Wolff.

Wolff is certainly no stranger to the world of motorsport. Between 2006 and 2012 she was active as a driver in the DTM. As a development driver for the Williams Formula One team, she became the first woman since 1992 to take part in an F1 session during two free practice sessions in Silverstone and Germany. In 2014, she also became a test driver for the British team, before announcing her retirement the following year.
