Spa-Francorchamps is all set to host the Belgian Grand Prix next week. It will probably be the last time (for now?) that the Formula 1 will visit the Ardennes.
All the more reason to make the coming Grand Prix a memorable experience, says the organisation in The Limburger. Everything is being pulled out of the sleeve to make 360,000 visitors over three days happy. Half of the spectators are from the Netherlands.
Many DJs
At the request of the F1 organisation, more entertainment will be organised alongside the track. "We have responded by making it an American-style show," says the circuit's CEO Vanessa Maes. There will be a Tomorrowland-like stage and a total of 35 DJs on four stands. These include Peter Luts, Kenn Colt, Sem Thomasson, Henri PFR, Oliver Heldens, Sander van Doorn and MC Shurakano. The fan zones will be decorated and top chefs will serve luxurious food.
The infrastructure around the circuit has been a point of concern for years. Last year, fans were stuck in the car parks until deep into the night. There will be more paved car parks with a shuttle service to the circuit. If it rains, regional airports will be used as car parks. Last year, traffic was partially held up by the closure of tunnels after the heavy floods in July, but those problems are in the past.
Extra trains
Extra trains will run to Verviers station, connecting with the circuit and city buses to major cities. Motorists are asked to use Waze, a navigation app that knows the route to every parking space.
