Nicholas Latifi got all kinds of things thrown at him after causing a safety car in the closing stages of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Williams driver himself received death threats and that has not left him in the cold either. Jost Capito called what happened 'completely unacceptable'.

During the unveiling of the new F44 car, the Williams team boss expressed that this kind of behavior from fans is really not acceptable.

"What happened to him is completely unacceptable. And it's difficult to give more than mental support, isn't it? We supported him in the way that he is convinced he didn’t do anything wrong, and that the team doesn’t blame him on any mistake, on any failures or anything."

Latifi crashed into the wall at the Yas Marina Circuit, causing a safety car. That was exactly what Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing needed to keep a slim chance at the world title. Verstappen was able to make a pit stop and in the only remaining lap he managed to overtake title rival Lewis Hamilton on fresh tyres.

Hamilton blames Latifi for nothing

Hamilton himself told GPblog among other that he disapproves of the behavior and that Latifi has his full support. The seven-time World Champion sent the Canadian of Williams a message a few days after the Abu Dhabi GP.
