Frederic Vasseur looks back on the first four races of the season with a positive feeling. The Ferrari team boss believes his team has made "great strides" and he is looking forward to the upcoming races with a positive feeling.

"We made a lot of progress especially in the high-speed corners. That was evident here at Suzuka," the Frenchman said after the Japan Grand Prix. "Overall, if you look at it compared to last year, we are now closer to Red Bull. They are still a bit ahead of us, but slowly but surely we want to keep increasing the pressure."

So although Ferrari is in relatively good shape, Vasseur stresses that there is still plenty of work to be done. "Tyre management is one of our weaker points, that needs to be worked on. Anyway, Formula 1 is also to some extent about finding compromises."

Looking ahead to China

The next race will be held in China this weekend. The Ferrari frontman expects an exciting weekend in Shanghai, there are many unpredictable factors that could come into play. "The field is close together and the sprint race provides an extra challenge with less preparation. Moreover, the track has recently been resurfaced. We have to start from scratch and work hard, hopefully we will be right there right away."
