Domenicali fears for Verstappen: 'Red Bull's dominance is then in danger'
- Cas van de Kleut
Stefano Domenicali thinks difficult times may be ahead for Red Bull Racing. Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport and others, the Formula One CEO talks about the changes within Max Verstappen's team.
In recent years, Red Bull has been the dominant team within Formula 1, but internal turmoil is not a good sign. Adrian Newey, a key figure, has already left the Austrian team and things are still not calm within the team.
Will Red Bull and Verstappen's dominance come to an end?
Domenicali sees Verstappen not having a very difficult time yet this season, but that could change in the near future: "Max is having a flawless season so far, but behind him, the differences are small between him and the other teams, so I expect more competition. Moreover, there are factors that could threaten Red Bull's dominance, such as changes within the team and possible news in the driver market."
The CEO therefore does not understand all the criticism about the sport becoming boring: "I see no reason to be bored with Formula 1. The numbers are inconsistent and do not reflect the fact that almost every race on the calendar is sold out. Besides, there have never been so many sponsors and requests from countries to host a Grand Prix."
