The Russian Grand Prix has to deal with heavy rain showers over the circuit. Because of this the organisation decided to postpone the first sprint race of the Formula 2.
The situation in Russia is reminiscent of the Belgian GP that was scheduled for the end of August. Also then the Formula 1 had to deal with very bad weather, where the track did not get the chance to dry. The same problems occurred on Saturday morning in Russia.
Due to rain and thunderstorms, the organisation decided to postpone the sprint race in Formula 2. The safety car shows on the photo below that the decision is certainly not unfounded.
Third free practice and qualification of Formula 1
The rain also poses a threat to the third free practice and qualification that are scheduled for Saturday. At 11:00 hrs the drivers will start the final practice, after which the qualifying will start at 14:00 hrs.
