Dietrich Mateschitz knows that time is pressing for Red Bull Racing to decide which engine will be used in Formula 1 after 2021. Honda has withdrawn as an engine supplier, so the Austrian race team are currently without a power unit in 2022. To the question whether Red Bull Racing together with AlphaTauri will still be active in Formula 1 at that time, Mateschitz answers at LAOLA1. "As far as we know at the moment, yes."

The most likely scenario is that Red Bull Technology will deal with the current Honda engine. A development freeze on the engines seems to be necessary in any case. "There are several possibilities. We could work with another established manufacturer or consider doing it ourselves. That hasn't been decided yet, but it needs to be clear soon. We need a year's preparation time," he explains.
So although Mateschitz does not yet dare to say out loud that Red Bull and AlphaTauri will continue to compete in the pinnacle of motorsport in the coming years, the Red Bull group has signed a contract with Liberty Media that will keep the Austrian Grand Prix on the calendar for the coming years.
