Lewis Hamilton proved that he can turn up his laps times with ease as he set a 1.33.279 to take P1 in FP3. The world champion managed to put together the fastest time after Valtteri Bottas had topped FP1 and FP2 and the Brit finished 0.7 seconds ahead of his teammate. It was the Finn who finished in P2 and Carlos Sainz who took P3.

The last session before qualifying took a while to get started. Lando Norris, together with both Haas F1 cars, were the first to set times. In the first twenty minutes, the men behind the wheel mainly did installation laps.

Bottas managed to go straight to first place in his first run, while Hamilton initially had to settle for fourth place on his softs. The British driver improved quickly, but Bottas' time was too good for him to beat. Verstappen split the Mercedes after half an hour with his first timed lap.

Turn 15 continued to prove difficult for the drivers and Gasly lost control of his car halfway through the session, but the Frenchman managed to keep his AlphaTauri out of the wall. He was able to continue on his way.

In the last fifteen minutes, the drivers came out ready for their fast laps. It was Lewis Hamilton who was able to flick the switch and put together a rapid lap to finish 0.7 seconds ahead of his teammate in P2.
