Formula 2 will see a new team on the grid for the 2020 season. Hitech Grand Prix will increase the number of teams in the series to 11. The announcement comes just a few months ahead of the support Formula's season launch in Bahrain.

No strangers

The British team are no strangers to motorsport. The team, who were founded in 2015, have already found success in the Formula 3 championship. Last season, Hitech GP won four races. Formula 2 this morning confirmed the team will be present at testing in Bahrain on March 1-3.

“I am pleased to welcome Hitech Grand Prix to our 2020 F2 grid. As stated before, many teams continuously show interest in joining our Championship. Today’s driver market combined with Hitech’s prowess meant this addition to the new season became possible," Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel said.

“Hitech Grand Prix enjoyed a strong Formula 3 season in 2019 and I know that although they are joining late, they will be able to adapt quickly to Formula 2 in order to fight against the other teams.”

With 11 teams, there will now be 22 drivers on the grid. Hitech Grand Prix is yet to announce their driver line-up. Nine seats remain open on the grid.
