Perez classes P7 as a "victory" in front of home fans

Sergio Perez fought hard to collect the 'best of the rest' prize during his home Mexican Grand Prix. With all drivers from the top three teams finishing, Perez awards himself with a victory as the Racing Point driver comes out on top in the midfield.

Perez equalled his best result in front of his home fans. The Mexican started the race in 11th and managed to climb four places with the help of some top-quality tyre management skills. Perez recorded 51 laps on the hard tyres while he had Daniel Ricciardo breathing down his neck.

"It was very hard because Renault were also very strong on the first stint and they came very close to us on the strategy but I managed to save the younger tyres till the end of the race. It's a victory to me and I'm very happy with that," Perez told Sky Sports.
