The FIA have decided not to investigate Max Verstappen after qualifying in Mexico, although the Dutchman himself admitted he hadn't slowed down when approaching and passing the crashed Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas.
Verstappen was already on provisional pole but was on a second flying lap to separate himself even more from the pack.
Then, in the last corner of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Bottas had a massive shunt and ended in the barriers. Both Verstappen as well as Lewis Hamilton drove past just seconds after and Verstappen improved on his time rather than slowing down in the final corner.
The 22-year-old himself admitted he didn't slow down for Bottas, but as no double yellows were in the computer system yet, there will not be an investigation launched to potentially penalise Verstappen and drop him down the grid.
The Dutchman's telemetry also shows he slowed down in the last 'mini sector', which could have been enough evidence for the FIA that Verstappen did lift, albeit for a small portion of time.
