Both Renault cars forced into MGU-K changes ahead of Mexican GP qualifying

Neither Nico Hulkenberg or Daniel Ricciardo recorded times during the third practice session of the Mexican Grand Prix weekend. The Renault cars managed to avoid the damp track, but not by choice. A mirrored hydraulic leak occurred on both cars which ensured the Renault mechanics were busy during the session.

Luckily for Renault, no penalties will be given because both drivers have enough spare MGU-K's in their pool. According to the French team, the oil cooling the MGU-K was contaminated.

Renault are going through a rough patch with their future in Formula 1 in doubt after one of the companies bosses launched a review of the full Renault group. Hulkenberg and Ricciardo were disqualified from the Japanese Grand Prix after Racing Point discovered an illegal braking system.
