Verstappen: Errors in Formula 1 can cost you your career

Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen has said that errors made in Formula 1 can cost a driver their career, but has admitted he prefers that sort of pressure.

Verstappen is now in his fourth year with Red Bull, and is still only 21-years-old. There have been slight whispers about the Dutch driver potentially moving onto Mercedes to enhance his chances of winning a world championship, but Verstappen has revealed that "little has changed" in his relationship with his current team.

"For me, little has changed, because the feedback I gave last year was the same as I'm giving today," Verstappen said, as quoted by F1Only.fr"If it were different, it would mean that I was doing a bad job last year. This is the approach I have always had.

"Personally, I always feel that I can feel what the car is doing. For my age, I have a lot of experience in this field, because I have always been working on it with my father (Jos Verstappen) since a very young age and I always try to give some feedback.

"So I never felt like I had more pressure from the team on that, because I feel like I'm already giving the right information."

Verstappen thinks he has been judged too harshly for some of his mistakes in F1, after spending just one year in Formula 3 before making the huge step up. Verstappen has often been criticised for his rash style of driving.

"I had only one year of Formula 3 experience, and of course, you make mistakes in Formula 1 that others may have made in the junior category or elsewhere," Verstappen explained.

"But for me, it's okay. I prefer to be at the highest level, make mistakes and learn from them, rather than be in the lower categories, while some errors in F1 can cost you your career."
