Kubica expects Paul Ricard circuit to put high demand on tyres

Robert Kubica expects the French Grand Prix to put the 2019 Formula 1 Pirelli tyres under extra stress. The tyres are one of the hottest talking points with Christian Horner asking if Pirelli can reintroduce the 2018 compounds.

The current forecast for the race says temperatures of 30c will hit the track. With the extra heat and a few other factors, Kubica is aware Williams will need to pay close attention to these areas.

"I am looking forward to what should be a hot weekend, that will be demanding on the tyres with the high-speed long corners putting a lot of stress and energy into the tyres. We will need to investigate these factors to prepare for the race," Kubica said.

Paul Ricard wasn't on the circuit during Kubica's previous stint in Formula 1, but the Polish driver has visited the track on a couple of occasions.

"I know the track pretty well from previous series and tests, such as Formula 3 and World Series by Renault. I am looking forward to racing there once again as it is a unique track with no gravel traps or run-off areas, so it is very safe," he added.

"The combination of high-speed long corners, long straights and low-speed corners make it a challenging circuit."
