Shanghai are in talks with the Formula E about potentially hosting an ePrix in the future, as the Chinese city hopes to add another racing event to its calendar besides the Chinese Grand Prix in Formula 1.

The FE recently added Korea to the calendar, which prompted different countries to get into talks. Vienna, the capital of Austria, is in advanced talks already.

The county of Shanghai has contacted the Formula E authorities and the first talks have been positive, according to FormulaPassion.

What's the plan? To build a new circuit on Fuxing island, an island which formerly got used as a shipyard.

It will be more clear by May whether a Shanghai ePrix will be added to the calendar, and when.

Interest in the young racing series, which is currently in its fifth-ever season, only seems to be increasing.
