Red Bull keep Buemi as F1 test driver

Former Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi will stay on as Red Bull's F1 test and reserve driver in 2019. The 30-year-old currently races for Toyota in the World Endurance Championship as well as the Nissan e.dams team.

Since leaving F1, Buemi has won both the World Endurance Championship in 2014 and the Formula E title in 2016/17 season. Alongside both seasons he is currently racing in, the Swiss driver will complete test duties for the Red Bull Formula One team.

He also went on to win the Le Mans 24 Hours with Kazuki Nakajima and Fernando Alonso.

Joining Toro Rosso in 2008 as part of the Red Bull junior driver programme and went on to earn a race seat with the team in 2009. He raced for the team for three seasons until 2011, when he was replaced at the team by Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo.

Despite leaving F1, his relationship with Red Bull remained positive and 2019 will be his 12th season as a member of the Red Bull programme.
