Sergey Sirotkin claims he is "happy" with how he performed in his first Formula 1 season. The Williams driver picked up just one point with the help of a disqualification in Italy. He will not feature on the grid next season.

The Russian was plagued with a car which underperformed. As a result of this, he never got the chance to demonstrate his full potential, but summing his season up, the 23-year-old said he's "happy".

“I mean I think I can be quite happy with what I did, to be honest. For sure there are certain things I could do better, for sure there are certain things where I was unlucky and were a bit out of my control," he told Motorsport week.

“So a few things on top of each other for sure, at certain points the results could [have been] a bit better."

Sirotkin goes on to explain how he would love to get another opportunity to race in Formula 1. He's unsure exactly what route he's going to take, but he's adamant he will perform if he comes back.

“I think I could do much, much more, let me say it in the way that if at some point I had another chance I’m really ready to use it and prove that I could show much more than for obvious reasons I could not do this year," he added.
