Magnussen: Constructors' championship is more important

Kevin Magnussen is in the hunt to be the ‘best of the rest’, or more plainly, to finish seventh in the drivers’ standings.

The Haas driver is 16 points behind current seventh placed driver Nico Hulkenberg with two races left to play, and whilst he believes that it is a great personal accolade, Magnussen is more interested in helping Haas overtake Hulkenberg’s Renault team to finish fourth in the constructors’ battle.

There is thirty points between the two teams, which may sound a lot, but if Haas secure two consecutive double points finishes, it could be very close between the two teams.

Magnussen told Sky Sports: “It would be personally a very satisfying result to be best of the rest, but there is more importance in the Constructors’ Championship, because that’s where we get the prize money and that’s what’s going to have a direct impact on the future.

“We’ve lost some ground to Renault but everything is still mathematically open so we should try and do the best we can.”
