Hamilton wanted longer fight with rival Sebastian Vettel on track

The final laps in the 2018 British Grand Prix seemed like a taste of what was to come in the second half of the season. It wasn't to be, but Lewis Hamilton claims he would have liked to have seen a bigger and longer battle with Sebastian Vettel.

The next race could turn out to be the title-clinching Grand Prix. Next week or not, Hamilton seems likely to be taking home his fifth World Championship but had it much easier than many expected including himself.

"I love those fights, and I had hoped that we could have competed more often this season. Racing on track against your big opponent is the ultimate challenge of your mental stability," Hamilton told motorsport.

"The duel during the Russian Grand Prix was therefore very welcome. I would love to fight until the end of the year, just like at Monza. Unfortunately, that is not always the case."

Rubbing more salt into Vettel's wounds?
