On this day: Williams grab their first pole position

This morning the Williams team took to Twitter in order to celebrate the anniversary of their first F1 pole position. It happened at the 1979 British Grand Prix.

Australian Alan Jones was the man behind the wheel of the Williams car. He drove around the old style Silverstone circuit in 1:11.88.

Since this maiden pole position, Williams have qualified in 1st 128 times. The British teams most recent pole game at the 2014 Austrian Grand Prix in the hands of Felipe Massa
