Red Bull advisor Dr Helmut Marko has said that four-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez could well be driving for Toro Rosso in the future, as Marquez impressed everyone on his testing day at the Red Bull Ring.

Red Bull owner Dieter Mateschitz started by saying that Marquez exceeded all expectations, and then some.

"Marc started with laps around the 1:21," he told Fox Sports.

"He was supposed to slow down, but he shaved his times down to 1:14.

"An unbelievable performance in such a short time, a time that would bring him into the midfield during a race weekend."

The Spaniard logged 43 laps on the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Marko continued by saying that Marquez could realistically be in the Formula One someday if he wants to be.

"He has the talent," the 75-year-old told Sky Sports F1.

"This won't be the last time he gets behind the wheel of an F1-car.

"Maybe, after he's done in MotoGP, the switch to F1 could be something realistic.

"John Surtees also knew how to succeed in both sports."
