A grueling weekend awaits the Formula One drivers in Monaco, as Lewis Hamilton knows. The British driver has experienced the race weekend many times in his career and rates the Monaco circuit as one of the toughest on the calendar. He let us know that to Sky Sports.

Whereas Hamilton dominated Formula 1 for years with Mercedes, the racing stable often failed to secure victory in Monaco. Twice the Briton took the win with Mercedes (2016 and 2019), while in 2008 the seven-time world champion emerged victorious with McLaren.

Hamilton had tough race in 2019

Hamilton remembers his last victory well. At that time, the driver was competing with Max Verstappen for the win and eventually drew the longer straw. Subsequently, the Dutchman received another time penalty, which resulted in him finishing in fourth place.

"When I won that race with Max behind me, I wasn't able to enjoy the rest of the night. I had to go home and go to bed... I was so mentally drained," Hamilton told the English medium. "All my friends were texting me, 'are you coming out to celebrate?' I was like... I'm just exhausted."
