McLaren youngster Lando Norris is looking to force team bosses into a selection headache at the end of the season.

Norris, who is McLaren's reserve and test driver for the 2018 season, has made a promising to his Formula 2 title challenge, leading the drivers' championship after two races.

Succes at F2, may potentially put Norris in a position to secure a seat on the F1 grid next season.

The 18-year old Brit, who drives for Carlin in F2, admits that although McLaren are happy with their set-up, providing them with a selection dilemma would be good.

"Obviously a headache would be nice!" he said.

"It's good for me, and at least they're thinking about what position I could be in.

"I think they're very happy with Fernando and Stoffel at the moment.

"It's in a position now where there's a lot of development going on, and having a slightly more experienced driver is a help.

"The rate of development would be slightly faster than if I jumped in, because I'd have to get used to F1 a bit.

"So I think the position they're in now, they're reasonably happy with."

F2 rules mean that if Norris wins the title this season, he will be unable to compete next season. This could mean that Norris is forced to look to another F1 team.

However, Glastonbury-born Norris believes it is a matter to worry about later.

"I guess it's the first year where if I did win F2, I wouldn't be able to do another year, and every year I've taken a step up into the next category," he added.
