Red Bull Racing has had a difficult start to the season. Where the Austrian formation was able to fight for the top positions immediately last year, Max Verstappen had to deal with a drop out in Bahrain and Australia. Nevertheless, Christian Horner remains hopeful, as he shows in conversation with Motorsportweek.com.

The Austrians have had to deal with an excellent performing Ferrari this season. The competitor managed to build a car that is better than the cars of the other teams in several respects. It ensures that the Italian racing team was able to compete for victory in the first three races on all occasions.

Red Bull learns from current problems

Horner therefore realizes that there is work to be done for Red Bull. The team would love to fight with Verstappen for a new world title, but saw the gap increase significantly in the first races. However, the team boss expects Red Bull to improve significantly in the coming months, allowing it to get closer to Ferrari's performance.

"I think they started this project a lot earlier than we did," explained Horner, who wants to look at the long term. "I think it’s all part of the development and evolution of these cars. As we learn more about the tyres and how the car’s performing, that gives you a development direction."
