During FP1 in Jeddah, Max Verstappen smelled a strange odour. It was not his car, but the smoke released after a rocket attack nearby. The FIA and the organization of the event immediately took action and consulted with drivers and teams whether the GP could go ahead. It was decided that it could go ahead. The teams and drivers could decide for themselves whether they wanted to participate or not. It seems that all team bosses have already committed to race this weekend. The drivers still have to decide.
Horner has faith in FIA and the organization
Speaking to Viaplay, Red Bull Racing team boss Horner said, "It is the decision of the FIA and the organization. We believe in what they say. They have the responsibility over the teams." This shows that the FIA made its own decision and that there was no consultation about it. So, though, the teams have reportedly been given the opportunity and freedom to decide for themselves to participate.
