The Formula 1 calendar consists of no less than 23 races, with which the motorsport class wants to set a record. Surprisingly, Germany is not one of the organising countries again. Stefano Domenicali regrets the decision.
The German Grand Prix was one of the regulars on the racing calendar for many years. Between 2008 and 2014 the races took place alternately at the Hockenheimring and Nürburgring. In 2016, 2018 and 2019 it was exclusively at the Hockenheimring. For Max Verstappen, that even meant a victory two years ago, however, he could not prevent Lewis Hamilton from taking the world title.
Domenicali wants a GP of Germany again
Since 2020, however, Germany is no longer on the calendar, which Domenicali finds disappointing. The Formula 1 boss believes that Germany belongs in motorsport and therefore should apply for a GP again soon. However, the big question is whether this will happen in the coming years, Domenicali also realises.
"I am disappointed and also sad that we do not have a German Grand Prix at the moment. Unfortunately, I see no real interest from Germany to be part of the Formula One calendar again," Domenicali responded during an interview with German Sport1. "It's regrettable."
