April 24 marks 4,000 days since Fernando Alonso last stood on the top step of the podium in Formula 1. The two-time World Champion from 2005 and 2006 has 32 wins in total, but his last victory came 11 years ago.

The now 42-year-old, who signed a multi-year contract with his current team, Aston Martin, has enjoyed success after joining in 2023. He has earned eight podiums and finished fourth in the 2023 drivers' standings with 206 points.

However, his last race win in the premier class of motorsport came just under 11 years ago after he won his home Grand Prix in Catalunya on 12 May 2013. If Alonso were to ever take victory again in F1, he would have the largest interval between two wins. That record is currently held by Frenchman Riccardo Patrese, whose interval between race wins was six years, six months and 28 days.

Statistics since Alonso's last victory

Since Alonso's last victory at the Spanish Grand Prix, he has retired and un-retired from F1, missing the 2019 and the 2020 seasons. He has driven for Ferrari, McLaren, Alpine and Aston Martin since his last win, racing 182 Grand Prix weekends and taking 17 podiums. He became a two-time Le Mans winner by managing the feat in 2018 and 2019. He entered the Indianapolis 500 in 2017, 2018 and 2020.

Since his last win, Lewis Hamilton won six of his seven world titles with Mercedes, and the German team earned eight constructors' titles in that span. Max Verstappen had not even graduated into cars the last time Alonso won a race. Now, the Dutchman is a three-time world champion and has raced in over 190 Grands Prix.

Although a race win would be a huge fan favourite throughout the world of F1, the domination from Verstappen and Red Bull seems too much for Alonso and Aston Martin to overcome. But stranger things have happened in Formula 1 since the 12 May 2013...
