The weekend in the People's Republic of China marks already the fifth Grand Prix of the season. It will be the only free practice session for the teams in the Asian country, as a sprint weekend is scheduled to be held. The last time F1 raced in Shanghai was in 2019, which also marked 1000th Grand Prix of all time of the competition.

A lot has changed since then, there are new cars, new tyres, and a resurfaced asphalt. Because of that, there are many unknowns about the upcoming sessions. Red Bull are of course expected to be at the front, with Ferrari also hoping to do better overall then they did in Suzuka and look forward to challenge the Austrian team. However, it can be anyone's game with a good set-up.

The Shanghai International Circuit is 5.451 kilometres (3.387 miles) long and has 16 corners. The driver competing in his home GP will be Guanyu Zhou for the first time in his F1 career.
