Formula 1 teams and drivers haven’t visited Shanghai since the 2022 rules and regulations were introduced. Because it's a sprint weekend in China, they only have one hour of practice before the meaningful sessions begin. There is a threat of rain for this single practice session, which will cause headaches for all involved.

F1 last visited China in 2019. Lewis Hamilton won the event as he began his push for a sixth World Championship title. Since then, the landscape in Formula 1 has completely changed, including the introduction of sprint races.
