Max Verstappen could not fight for the pole position at Istanbul Park. The Dutchman had to settle for third place, which means he will start second due to the grid penalty of Lewis Hamilton. The Red Bull Racing driver was curious if Valtteri Bottas could improve his time.

When the flag fell at the end of qualifying Verstappen remained very calm. The Dutchman is happy with his result and knows that Hamilton will have to start from eleventh place after his penalty. He was also complimented by his engineer Gianpiero Lambiase.

Yet Verstappen seemed to have some hope for the first starting position on Sunday. Over the radio he asks whether Bottas has set a faster time. Lambiase can confirm that this is indeed the case and that Verstappen will start from P2.
