The Yas Marina Circuit has been the venue for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2009. Earlier this year it was announced that the circuit was going to make some major adjustments to the circuit and now shows the progress of that.

Few overtaking opportunities

The races in Abu Dhabi are generally not full of action. The Yas Marina Circuit is known for its difficulty in overtaking. The adjustments to the circuit are therefore mainly aimed at improving the overtaking possibilities. The chicane in turn 5/6 will disappear and the hairpin (turn 7) will also be improved.

The slower corners 11 to 14 will be replaced by one sharp corner. Turns 17 through 20 will be redesigned to allow for a higher apex speed. In a recently published video the circuit shows the progress of the modifications to the circuit. According to the organisation the circuit will be ready in time for the Grand Prix on December 12th. Last year the race was won by Max Verstappen.
