'I think Alonso is a legend of the sport'

Esteban Ocon praises teammate Fernando Alonso. The Frenchman will see Alonso up close as a teammate at Alpine F1 Team in 2021 and is very impressed with the Spaniard.

"I know how much work he puts in, how much motivation he has even now at his age and with how much experience he has and how much he has achieved in the sport. It's more than impressive," Ocon revealed at MotorsportWeek.com.

"I think he’s just a legend of the sport, he’s up there with the top guys – Senna, Schumacher, and he will always remain there," Ocon continued. According to Ocon, there is no one who thinks in the way of Alonso. "I am glad to be his team-mate and proud to push as much as we can together for our common target."

Return to Formula 1

Alonso returned to Formula 1 in 2021 after spending two years exploring other branches of motorsport. This included becoming champion in the World Endurance Championship with Toyota and also featuring in the Indy500 and the Dakar Rally.
