Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen once again battled for the world title both on and off the track at the Qatar Grand Prix. Although the Briton was the winner of the weekend, the title battle is far from decided. Here are the conclusions after the thrilling race weekend.

Hamilton has grip back in the world championship

Where the Formula 1 experts thought that Verstappen almost won the world championship after the GP of Mexico, nothing was less true. Hamilton did not let himself be known the last few races and has his rival back insight. The seven-times world champion has regained control of the title and will not relinquish it in the next two races.

Formula 1 season gets a fitting end

With two races to go the tension in the world championship continues to rise. In two weeks time the GP of Saudi Arabia will take place. At first glance Mercedes again seems to be the fastest, giving the Formula 1 fans what they hoped for: a final battle in Abu Dhabi. It will then be up to Mercedes and Red Bull Racing to decide which team is the strongest.

Red Bull has a fighter in the house with Perez

Sergio Perez had a disappointing qualifying session in Qatar, which saw him start the race in eleventh place. On Sunday afternoon, however, the Mexican showed he has what it takes. Perez fought his way back up to fourth place, showing why he's driving a Red Bull car. In the last two races, however, he needs to be close to Verstappen at the start so he can help his teammate.

Alpine makes good impression in Qatar

Between the Red Bull and Mercedes cars, Alpine made a good impression in Qatar. The team with Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon set the third and fifth fastest times respectively. The performance was not an isolated one, as the team also performed well in Brazil a week ago. Alpine increased the gap with AlphaTauri to 25 points and is on the right track.
