While Mercedes have been busy this week with their 'Right to Review' for the incident between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, the Briton himself doesn't seem to have been fully involved in the process by the team. That's according to an interview in the Weekend Warm-Up.

Right to Review

At the Brazilian Grand Prix, Hamilton tried to outmanoeuvre Verstappen at turn four on lap 48. The Dutchman defended but went off track. Hamilton said after the race that he liked it and wanted to do everything he could to succeed. His team chose a different approach after the race and hopes to get Verstappen a penalty.

"I support the team in their decision. I've not made the decision. I've really just focused on doing my job this weekend." Asked if Hamilton knew about the decision, there suddenly seems to be a doubt. ''Uh....... I was told they were thinking about it and then I came back to the factory and found out (that the decision had already been made)," said a confused Lewis.

The new Mercedes engine

So the Brit was informed of the idea, but not that the team would actually do it. Given Hamilton's reaction, the journalist therefore asks if Hamilton had a chance to block this action of his team. Hamilton quickly recovers here by saying that he supports his team, but he doesn't seem to fully agree.

Then it's on to talk about Hamilton's performance in Brazil and the help of his new engine. According to Hamilton this wasn't all that decisive though: "The engine is the same as always been. People think the engine made all the difference last week, but that's not the case. It was the combination of all things coming together. The engine definitely helped, but it wasn't everything," concluded the seven-time world champion.
