Last Wednesday news came in that some teams had to wait for the arrival of their cargo in Brazil. The FIA has now decided that the teams will get more time than usual for the technical inspection of the cars.

According to F1's official rules, this process and the associated paperwork should normally be completed no later than eighteen hours before the first free practice session on Friday. Ferrari, McLaren, Haas and Alfa Romeo, in particular, are said to have been affected by the transport problems.

The FIA has now decided that the teams will be given an additional fifteen hours to complete the inspection. The official document of the FIA states that each competitor must complete the first technical check of the cars and submit the declaration no later than three hours before the start of FP1.

Late-night for some teams

The adjustment of the rules should ensure that the schedule for the rest of the weekend does not need to be changed. At Autosport.com Haas team boss Guenther Steiner is quoted. "The guys just have to work through the night, that's the only thing you can do," he says when asked about the solution.

"I don't know if they need to work through the night, but it will be for sure a late night, and all the rest with the regulations has been changed as of this morning – that the curfew and the scrutineering times that has been all adjusted," Steiner says.
