Sergio Perez is looking forward to the Brazilian Grand Prix with confidence. The Mexican is just twenty points behind Valtteri Bottas in the world championship and the constructors' title is within reach for Red Bull Racing.

"We are so close to Mercedes that every point from now on will make a big difference," Perez is quoted by the Mexican branch of Motorsport.com. "We have to keep pushing and try to be as perfect as possible every weekend." Red Bull appear to be the favourites in Brazil, but Perez warns that it could be close.

"I think we are very close. We saw it in Mexico, they were stronger than us in qualifying and we were stronger in the race because Max took the lead. I think, if they had held the lead, it would have been very different. I think it's going to be very close here and we'll see who has the advantage. With the sprint race in between, it's something we'll have to wait and see."

Perez looks back on Mexico

In the closing stages of the Mexico Grand Prix, Perez came very close to Lewis Hamilton's car, but it wasn't enough to overtake. "I think we should have made the undercut earlier, but there was no chance. One of the Ferraris was in the way. I think if Hamilton hadn't pitted on that lap, we could have done an undercut."

"In Mexico, it's hard to overtake, so it was a race where track position was important. I didn't have enough delta in the tire to overtake him. He struggled a bit towards the end, but then he was able to pick up the pace and I never had a chance," Perez concludes.
