There is a good chance of rain during qualifying and the sprint race in Brazil. Mercedes chief Andrew Shovlin hopes to take advantage of a cooled track. If the track is warm Red Bull Racing will take the win according to Mercedes calculations.

Smaller differences in Brazil

With just four races left in the 2021 championship, there is much talk about the chances of Red Bull Racing and Mercedes per circuit. Red Bull were favourites in Mexico and Max Verstappen 's team are likely to be back on top in Brazil.

Shovlin expects a difficult weekend for Mercedes, but sees opportunities to attack Red Bull. The teams will be closer than in Mexico, but there are variables that could determine the weekend.

Weather determines battle between Mercedes and Red Bull

Speaking to Motorsportweek.com the Briton says: "The weather is very unstable there by definition. You can have a fifty-degree track one day and the next it's a washed-out track."

Shovlin thinks the weather will determine who is stronger in Brazil: "I think if it's a hot circuit, it will go more in their direction. A bit of cloud cover may suit us well."
