Daniel Ricciardo has had to miss his home race for quite some time. There has been no Australian Grand Prix since March 2019. The former Red Bull driver knows better than anyone what it feels like to race at a home circuit and will be hoping that Sergio Perez runs away with the win.

Perez himself does not want to talk about a possible battle with teammate Max Verstappen at the race in Mexico, but does hope to win at his home circuit. A win for Verstappen would mean a lot, as it would provide important points in the title fight with Lewis Hamilton.

Ricciardo favours Perez's victory

To give away a home win to his teammate hurts Ricciardo just thinking about it. "If it was the last race of the season and the title was decided there, it's a much more complicated decision. But otherwise, no. As a kid you dream of winning at home," Ricciardo is quoted on Motorsport-Magazin.com. The Australian grants Perez that feeling of a win this weekend."I want you to win too!" he tells the Mexican in the press conference.

Under different circumstances, however, he would not gift the win in the home race to his teammate. Certainly not if he had "earned" the win on the track.
