It was almost a year ago: the day Formula 1 held their breath after Romain Grosjean's mega-crash in Bahrain. Miraculously, the Frenchman got out of the wreckage, but every day he still experiences the aftermath of the crash.

New skin

Last week Grosjean gave an update on his physical situation. In the podcast In The Fast Lane he stated that his burned hand would never be the same again. "But you learn to live with it", Grosjean remained positive. Although, of course, he continues to work on further recovery.

This week, the Frenchman - who switched to the American IndyCars - took a new step in his rehabilitation. On Tuesday, he had surgery on his hand in France, during which new skin was placed. Afterwards, Grosjean announced on his social media channels that the operation was successful. Meanwhile, he would already be home to further recover.

For Grosjean, this is the perfect time for surgery. The IndyCar season is over. Next season, Grosjean will be promoted in IndyCar, as he moves to Michael Andretti's top team.
