Max Verstappen did everything he could to stay ahead of Mercedes at the end of the race in the United States. The overtaking of Mick Schumacher turned out to be no easy task. Although the Dutchman was angry on the team radio, Schumacher says he is not to blame for the incident.

Schumacher is driving in Formula 1 for the first time this season. With Haas, he has still not had a chance to drive in the points, so he is used to having to pass several drivers during the course of the race.

Schumacher could do little else

That was also the case with Verstappen, who put in a strong race. Together with Hamilton, he showed the spectators at the side a high level, which Schumacher had seen. Still, Verstappen didn't manage to pass him easily.

"The fact is that I can't disappear into thin air," Schumacher responds at Speedweek.com. "I'm also on the track and driving my own race. But of course I tried to put Max in as little trouble as possible. He also had the chance to flatten his rear wing thanks to me. And in my eyes this made up for the time loss he suffered behind me. I don't think anyone could have done much more in that situation."
